WINTER MODE

February 10

Inshore fishing:

Its the coldest the water temperature has been in years. This means snook are hard to come by as are most fish on the flats. We have been spending most of our time fishing bridges, docks, channels, and canals hunting down sheepshead, mangrove snapper and redfish! Live shrimp or fiddler crabs are the ticket right now as fish don't have the energy to chase down moving baits. All its going to take is 4-5 days of good weather for these fish to absolutely FIRE UP. Until then, we will stay on the sheepshead and redfish which provide for a fun day of action!

NEW YEAR, SAME HOT BITE!

January 2

INSHORE:

Snook fishing is as good as it gets as long as you plan your trip does not fall on a morning of a cold front or in the middle of that front. Any stable weather conditions and the snook go crazy! Redfish are mixed in with the snook, but it is not like the fall red fishing. They are around but harder to come by. The local mangrove snapper bite is drastically improving as is the sheepshead fishing. Canals and bridges are offering a ton of action if just pulling on some fish is what you are looking for!

OFFSHORE

Red Grouper Season is open! The fishing for them is really good right now with true firetrucks coming over the rails. Mangrove snapper, lane snapper, and plenty of other bottom critters are keeping us nice and busy as well! Blackfin tuna are roaming all over the fishing grounds right now as well so you have great odds at landing a couple of these as well! If you want to test your strength and will power, go amberjack fishing this time of year. I dare you!
